Phone Numbers

This section provides an overview of phone numbers and related routing concepts within the CarrierX platform.

Phone numbers rentable through the CarrierX API are known as Direct Inward Dialing numbers (DIDs). DIDs can be organized into DID groups.

You can browse and filter available DIDs, along with their supported and active capabilities, by using the Browse Available DIDs endpoint.

Routing and messaging logic can also be configured through related objects:

  • Prefixes allow you to route outbound calls based on the starting segment of the dialed phone number. Prefixes are sequences of digits you can set up to route your outbound calls to a desired trunk group on your partner.
  • Short codes are short phone numbers used for SMS communication.
